Manufacturers use branding on lawnmowers, engines and other appliances to help market products. For instance Toro Recycler lawnmowers have been made for decades. Adding decals and other logos is helpful for brands to connect to buyers but sometimes finding parts and accessories gets confusing.
Every lawnmower, engine and appliance has a specific model number and serial number. This is like the VIN on your car. It is the secret number to discover all the parts and accessories that are unique to your product.
Where to Find Your Model Number (8 Tips and Common Locations):
- Manufacturers adhere decals with specific model, serial number and other details like date of manufacture and emissions specifications.
- Look for white decals with very technical font.
- The pretty logos are just for advertising. Model numbers look like a page from an owners manual.
- Walk power lawnmowers feature a decal near the left rear wheel (sometimes it is hidden under the grass bag door).
- Riding lawnmowers often use a bright white decal under the seat, near the battery or on the side of on the frame.
- Engines – Look for decals above spark plug and cylinder covers.
- Some appliances have model numbers stamped into a metal plate under lips of covers, lids and doors.
- Search by the model number to find parts and accessories that will fit your appliance.

Briggs and Stratton
A very popular engine manufacturer. The model number will only provide parts for the engine. If you have a lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton engine, identify both the lawnmower mower model number and the engine model number. How to find the model number plate on Briggs and Stratton engines will depend on a few factors:
Walk power mowers, pressure washers and other smaller engines feature a plate with stamped information.
Small Engine Model Plate Location
Larger engines featured on riding lawn mowers and the ZTRs have information stamped into the cylinder cover.
Large Engine and Vanguard Engines
Vanguard engines have a model number stamped into the valve cover. This plate may be covered by debris. A flashlight should air in finding the plate.

Snowblower engines feature a plate or decal.

Most Snowblower engines have a model number stamped into a metal shield, but the model may also be located on a label by the starter, on the valve cover or on the cylinder shield. These plates may be covered by debris or hidden under engine shroud covers. A flashlight should aid in finding the plate.

Echo
Echo model numbers are displayed on the housing in the form of a decal (Example: PB255). The complete model number and the 12 character serial number are located near the engine block. (Example T12345678901). The serial number aides in finding specific parts and accessories.

Honda Power Equipment
A another popular engine manufacturer, American Honda offers their own lawnmowers, generators, pumps and other appliances. Location of model number decal are unique to each type of equipment.

Hustler Turf Equipment models are 6 digits (Example 931899). The model numbers are easily located on the left side of the frame. All models are clearly marked on a silvery white label under the left control arm or the left side of frame.
Smaller Zero Turn models feature a decal on the left or right side of frame.
Raptor and Raptor SD Zero Turn Riding Mowers
Hustler model decal is located on the left side of the frame. On Raptor X, XD and XL models the decal has been moved to the right side of the frame.

Kawasaki Engines
Kawasaki engines feature a 6 character model number (Example: FR691V). This model is often featured on the fan housing. There is an additional 4 character code for specific parts (Example: FR691V-BS19). This model and code can be found on a silver decal on the engine block.
FR Series models have a clear decal on the engine cover.

FX Series Engines feature a code decal typically located on the engine cover opposite of the air intake.

Kohler Engines
Kohler engines feature a 5 character model number (Example: KT730). There is an additional 4 digit code for specific parts (Example: KT730-3065. This model and code can be found on a silver decal on the engine block. Kohler engines are used on multiple applications. Refer to your application to see a complete description.
